A titanic movie - Titanic Reviews

I remember very clearly the day my parents saw Titanic. I was in third grade, and had to go to after school care with my sister because they caught the noon showing. When they picked us up, my mom was ranting about how spectacular it was, and how even though we were to young, we should see it. I remember thinking of it as the best movie ever, but I was only 8 at the time, so that figures. We bought the video cassette and soon the hype wore down and it disappeared into my memory. I finally decided to revisit it and discovered it to be excellent, though I have seen better films. I believe that if the top 100 had been made in 1999 instead of ?98, Titanic would be on there. It certainly isn?t the greatest movie of all time, but it should?ve been in the top 100. Titanic opens with a deep dive to the suken Titanic, where Brock Lovett (Bill Paxton) is searching for the heart of the ocean, a big blue diamond in the shape of a heart. He finds a safe, but it contains pictures. One picture features a nude woman wearing the diamond, dated the night the Titanic struck the iceberg. On old woman named Rose Calvert(Gloria Stuart) recognizes the picture and claims that it is she who was featured in the picture wearing the diamond. She is flown to Lovett?s ship and there she tells her story. Flashback to 1912, when the Titanic is leaving port. Rose then was known as Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet), a rich girl who is wild yet is forced to be a proper woman. She is engaged to a pompous, young, handsome rich man, Cal Hockley (Billy Zane). Rose feels trapped, like she?s screaming and no one can hear her, nor cares. She wants out but her mohter (Frances Fisher) keeps reminding her that if she doesn?t marry Cal, they go back in the gutter (Rose?s mom used to be a seamtress or something like that). Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a young American who wins two tickets onto the R.M.S. Titanic and hops on the ship with his good friend, Fabrizio (DannyNucci). Together they set back home. It is inevitable that he and young Rose should meet, and he falls in love. He saves her from a suicide attempt and soon gains her love. She finally falls for him the night the Titanic strikes the iceberg, which is inevitable. The love story is very convincing and won Titanic the 37th spot on the top 100 romances, and rightlly so. It is passionate and convincing, the chemistry is amazing, and everything fits. You couldn?t ask for a more satisfying love story on board the Titanic. 7 years later, and the only part of the visual effects that is dated is the iceberg, which seems rather cheesy nowadays. The rest, the Titanic sailing and sinking, the countless people falling off the ship, the Titanic splitting, the humans being crushed, is all convincing. Some of the best visuals I?ve ever seen. The actual sinking of the ship is amazing. The interior labrynthine Titanic is beautifully recreated, with hose gushing water when needed. But it all looks real and not cheesy. My favorite part is when Jack and Rose run in slow motion away from a tidal wave of water coming through a closed door that was meant to block the water. What a rush. The editing contains seamless transitions from past to present. When we first journey back, we get a shot of Old Rose. The camera moves around her and looks at the monitors of the sunken Titanic. The camera moves into the monitor and dissolves to 1912 so seamlessly, it?s amazing. Every time we journey from past to present, we get a transition so we know what is going on, and are not to confused by it. And they aren?t overdone. There is just the right amount so that the audience doesn?t get an overdose of transitions from past to present and back. The actors all do well, though none of them are outstanding in the way that Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable are in Gone with the Wind, but they are satisfying. Billy Zane is great as the heavy, and Kathy Bates is just wonderful as Molly Brown, later known as the Unsinkable Molly Brown. My problem was, Rose nor anyone else complained about the cold water and air unitl the Titanic was dead and everyone was floating in the water. They all go, ?Cold, cold!? or in DiCaprio?s case, ?Oh ***** this is cold!? But it only lasts for five seconds and we sometimes forget the water is supposed to be cold. But enough from me. The movie rightfully deserved it?s 11 academy awards, out of the 14 (one was a nomination for Winslet as Best Actress; one was a nomination for Stuart as Supporting Actress; the last was a nomination for Makeup). I recommend it to anybody, especially movie buffs, James Cameron fans, and Titanic afficionados.

It's like you've died and gone to heaven!!!! - Titanic Reviews

OMG! when i first wanted to see it when i was 6 i thought, ugh another romantic movie!!! but oh how wrong i was!!!!! this movie had the epic story of forbidden love and the perilous scapade of adrenaline rush when everyone rushes to get off the boat!!!! i mean this is seriously the PERFECT movie for everything!!!! especially for dates!!! i mean the acting and story alone were fantastic!!! i love the visual effects as well, while watching this movie i felt as if i myself, were being pulled into the movie. with every moment of the movie i grew more and more attatched to the characters!!! the romance was enough but not too much (like the notebook *cough* pardon me if i offend anyone) I think that this movie represents film-making at it's best and anyone who enjoys action romance and undenyable passion for film making should definitley watch this movie!!!! You're heart will sink with the Titantic as the hearts of many are crushed with each inch the ship deepens! i absoulutely loved this movie and i know many of you will too!!!
