A titanic movie - Titanic Reviews
I remember very clearly the day my parents saw Titanic. I was in third grade, and had to go to after school care with my sister because they caught the noon showing. When they picked us up, my mom was ranting about how spectacular it was, and how even though we were to young, we should see it.
I remember thinking of it as the best movie ever, but I was only 8 at the time, so that figures. We bought the video cassette and soon the hype wore down and it disappeared into my memory. I finally decided to revisit it and discovered it to be excellent, though I have seen better films. I believe that if the top 100 had been made in 1999 instead of ?98, Titanic would be on there. It certainly isn?t the greatest movie of all time, but it should?ve been in the top 100.
Titanic opens with a deep dive to the suken Titanic, where Brock Lovett (Bill Paxton) is searching for the heart of the ocean, a big blue diamond in the shape of a heart. He finds a safe, but it contains pictures. One picture features a nude woman wearing the diamond, dated the night the Titanic struck the iceberg. On old woman named Rose Calvert(Gloria Stuart) recognizes the picture and claims that it is she who was featured in the picture wearing the diamond. She is flown to Lovett?s ship and there she tells her story.
Flashback to 1912, when the Titanic is leaving port. Rose then was known as Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet), a rich girl who is wild yet is forced to be a proper woman. She is engaged to a pompous, young, handsome rich man, Cal Hockley (Billy Zane). Rose feels trapped, like she?s screaming and no one can hear her, nor cares. She wants out but her mohter (Frances Fisher) keeps reminding her that if she doesn?t marry Cal, they go back in the gutter (Rose?s mom used to be a seamtress or something like that).
Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a young American who wins two tickets onto the R.M.S. Titanic and hops on the ship with his good friend, Fabrizio (DannyNucci). Together they set back home. It is inevitable that he and young Rose should meet, and he falls in love. He saves her from a suicide attempt and soon gains her love. She finally falls for him the night the Titanic strikes the iceberg, which is inevitable.
The love story is very convincing and won Titanic the 37th spot on the top 100 romances, and rightlly so. It is passionate and convincing, the chemistry is amazing, and everything fits. You couldn?t ask for a more satisfying love story on board the Titanic.
7 years later, and the only part of the visual effects that is dated is the iceberg, which seems rather cheesy nowadays. The rest, the Titanic sailing and sinking, the countless people falling off the ship, the Titanic splitting, the humans being crushed, is all convincing. Some of the best visuals I?ve ever seen.
The actual sinking of the ship is amazing. The interior labrynthine Titanic is beautifully recreated, with hose gushing water when needed. But it all looks real and not cheesy. My favorite part is when Jack and Rose run in slow motion away from a tidal wave of water coming through a closed door that was meant to block the water. What a rush.
The editing contains seamless transitions from past to present. When we first journey back, we get a shot of Old Rose. The camera moves around her and looks at the monitors of the sunken Titanic. The camera moves into the monitor and dissolves to 1912 so seamlessly, it?s amazing. Every time we journey from past to present, we get a transition so we know what is going on, and are not to confused by it. And they aren?t overdone. There is just the right amount so that the audience doesn?t get an overdose of transitions from past to present and back.
The actors all do well, though none of them are outstanding in the way that Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable are in Gone with the Wind, but they are satisfying. Billy Zane is great as the heavy, and Kathy Bates is just wonderful as Molly Brown, later known as the Unsinkable Molly Brown. My problem was, Rose nor anyone else complained about the cold water and air unitl the Titanic was dead and everyone was floating in the water. They all go, ?Cold, cold!? or in DiCaprio?s case, ?Oh ***** this is cold!? But it only lasts for five seconds and we sometimes forget the water is supposed to be cold.
But enough from me. The movie rightfully deserved it?s 11 academy awards, out of the 14 (one was a nomination for Winslet as Best Actress; one was a nomination for Stuart as Supporting Actress; the last was a nomination for Makeup). I recommend it to anybody, especially movie buffs, James Cameron fans, and Titanic afficionados.

It's like you've died and gone to heaven!!!! - Titanic Reviews
OMG! when i first wanted to see it when i was 6 i thought, ugh another romantic movie!!! but oh how wrong i was!!!!! this movie had the epic story of forbidden love and the perilous scapade of adrenaline rush when everyone rushes to get off the boat!!!! i mean this is seriously the PERFECT movie for everything!!!! especially for dates!!! i mean the acting and story alone were fantastic!!! i love the visual effects as well, while watching this movie i felt as if i myself, were being pulled into the movie. with every moment of the movie i grew more and more attatched to the characters!!! the romance was enough but not too much (like the notebook *cough* pardon me if i offend anyone) I think that this movie represents film-making at it's best and anyone who enjoys action romance and undenyable passion for film making should definitley watch this movie!!!! You're heart will sink with the Titantic as the hearts of many are crushed with each inch the ship deepens! i absoulutely loved this movie and i know many of you will too!!!

Titanic - Titanic Reviews
When I heard how amny oscars this movie had won, and how well it did in the box office I thought I was in for the best movie of my life. I was wrong. Sure this movie wass good, but it didn't deserve to win all of those awards. The acting and visuals of this movie were perfect. Just don't have your expectations too high otherwise you would be in for a huge dissappointment.
Amazing! - Titanic Reviews
I think this movie definetly deserved all of the oscars it won! It has all the makings of a great movie. Love, action, great music, and (so sue me) a cute guy!
The special effects are a bit outdated, but it's still great

One of the best movies i've ever seen - Titanic Reviews
Titanic is the perfect mix of romance, action, drama, comedy, and everything else I can't think of right now! This isn't one of those movies where the only good parts are in the trailors. Every time I watch it, there's a new part that gets me! (sometimes old parts get me too) I know alot about the Titanic, and besides romance, action, drama, comedy, it's pretty historicly acurate, too!
Again, this is one of my favorite movies, and I recommend it to anyone!
Remarkable breathtaking and thrilling movie - Titanic Reviews
wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow thats all i need say about this movie!!!!!! the acting nees working but that whole direction was fantastic but i didnt liek how they put the love part into it because titanic was not about love anways but this movie ****1/2 stars for meeee "two big thumbs up"
Awesome in many ways . . . - Titanic Reviews
This movie compels one of teh most tragic stories ever know in a way that is indescribably unique. The story has a wonderous twist that fits teh story just right. The story wasn't at the peak of it points all the time but it still was one amazing film. This film has awe-inspiring visual efffects and music. The acting, direction, and cinematogoraphy are well more then perfect. But nothings perfect, only close. This movie is worth seeing, if you don't like it, then your one of the few but not everyone will. But I assure you if you love Titanic, you'll love the effects and the movie itself, but the love story add-in, that's one thing some people coulddo without. Without it, though, it would be boring and very uninteresting to many audiences and most likely would be considered a documentary. I hope this helps - see the movie!

Great actors/great story/great effects=great movie - Titanic Reviews
once I saw this movie i fell in love with the actors and the whole story. It is the best movie you can ever see. This is my favorite movie of all time.Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio did an excellent job as they played Jack and Rose. it may be long but this movie is pure excellent. With 11 awards this is the movie of the century.
Wow! - Titanic Reviews
I truly thin that this is one of my favorite drama movies that has ever been made. It was truly oscar worthy, and Kate Winslet was absolutly amazing.
I love this movie - Titanic Reviews
I'm 19 and was just a little kid in 4th grade when this movie was released. Almost right away everyone I knew was talking about it. My Mom and I went to see it and were amazed it is one of those movies that takes you for a ride and at the same time a powerful love story. I still love to watch it petty often and it makes me cry I love tearjerkers. Rose and Jack will always be in my heart. I think this movie will never be forgotten

Titanic=best - Titanic Reviews
This movie brings back to life the long dead titanic imagine how many people died that night and now a movie about it , there wasnt any cameras back then and now with all the tech we have ,they made this Original classic ,the best of the best you cant mess with this movie.
One word: beautiful - Titanic Reviews
If this movie is real, it is only worth watching! When I saw it, I cried through it all! It is soooooooo lovely and to simulate the real thing they used $200,000,000!!!! But it was worth it all!!! The scenes were lovely, the actors were picked very well, and it seemed totally real! I give it 2 THUMBS UP!!!
Why an a-?!!!! - Titanic Reviews
Titanic IS the best movie ever for most people. Even the world's record says that this movie had won 12 OSCARS NOMINATION and this movie still gets an A- ?!!! What the heck?! The guy who gave Titanic a C, you SUCK! Especially the guys who gave this movie a B or lower, you guys SUCK! Okay, where was I? Oh yeah, Titanic is the number one movie of the year! James Cameron is the Best Director EVER ( Steven Speilberg is also the best director too )! The story, the acting, the direction, especially the visuals are the best ever. The scenes which shows the Titanic is also the cool part. Titanic is also a really sad movie. Especially the part when Rose loses her boy friend Jack, who tried to save Rose from getting frozen from the ice. Billy Zane is also tight in this movie. Billy Zane did sound alot different from the game Kingdom Hearts. It's really sad though. Rose never loved Billy Zane and he was her fionce. One of the coolest part in this movie is the part when the Titanic sinks and most of the people either gets killed or badly injured. At the very end of the movie, Old Rose ( the old woman who tells the story of her as a young girl on the Titanic with her boyfriend Jack ) has a precious diamond ( which is a gold mine ) from her fionce and throws it ( oh man, she could've keep it instead )to the ocean down to the abyss. Sad though. Now Old Rose dreams of her as a young woman married to Jack on the Titanic. This is really sad though. It was just a dream and she can't marry Jack anymore because he's dead. What a wonderful movie. James Cameron is the all - time number one director of the century. He does a great job on most movie that he directs. Especially on Aliens, Terminator, Terminator 2, The Abyss, and also this movie ( forget about his other horrible movie that he directed which is Piranha 2: The Spawning ). James Cameron, you've done it AGAIN!!!

D - for dumb humor - Wedding Crashers Reviews
I am simply let down everytime I get talked into going to an american made comedy. Who's rating these comedy movies... post pubescent boys and girls? I guess if you think bare breasted women, stupid cliches' and just plain dumb writing is funny... more power to you. I'll stick to the foreign comedies, until Hollywood can produce something more funny than this type of garbage.

Definitely deserves the 11 academy awards it won - Titanic Reviews
This film is a visual masterpiece. The biggest blockbuster of all time won 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture; it deserved them all. Although the love story is somewhat dull and abject compared to some very original ones like in "Shakespeare in Love" it still carries an incredible emotional weight, as most will find out by the very last scene in the film; it will make you cry. The music is also a pivitol character in the film. Despite how many make fun of the theme song "My Heart Will Go On", orchestrated versions of that sound throughout the film provide an incredible power to the film's most emotional and heartfelt scenes. Obviously everyone knows the story of the Titanic so I'm not giving anything away when I say that the scene with all the people in in the water, drowning, freezing, and just basically dying is one of the most horrific visuals captured next to those in films like "Schindler's List" and the D-Day invasion in "Saving Private Ryan" (hmmm, both are Spielberg films). Anyways, this film is a must see; it is rather long but is well worth the experience.
The titanic of all movies - Titanic Reviews
This movie had it all and still, no movie has surpassed its high standards. This movie was wonderful in every aspect. James Cameron made everything so beautiful and nothing has ever been so wonderful. Jack and Rose will go down in history as another Rhett and Scarlett and will be forever remembered. This is the kind of film that will never be forgotten and always be remembered as one of the greatest movies of all time. It's a gift to have that honor and every part of the cast and crew deserves that. Leonardo DiCaprio was superb as Jack and he gave a beautiful performance...Leo is still so hot! Kate Winslet isn't forgotten but she will never play another character as well as she did as Rose! And for all of you that gave this movie bad reviews, it's just because you can't appreciate good movies and that's no one's fault but your own. Why would the Academy award this movie 11 Academy Awards if it were not worthy?!?!

Good and mushy - Titanic Reviews
The movie was kind of mushy with sexual varieties
But on the other hand,it was kind of sad seeing that nearly a lot of people died.I liked this movie because it was based on a true story,at least I think. This movie's genre is basically on
romance, tragedy, and things that sometimes it can
be hard to explain. It really is a good movie.
Overated - Titanic Reviews
This movie was definatley a big chick flick. The action was minor and it just wasn't worth seeing unless you are a girl.
Pretty good - Titanic Reviews
It is the best movie of the the 90's but not the all time favorite. The Lord of the Rings is still the best, and Titanic is the only competition. Titanic's story proved to be moving but they take too much time focusing on certain areas of the story. Rose and Jack proved their lust but not their true bond. Too many stories are about a poor boy and a rich girl falling in love. The acting is average to me, but directing was good. For all you Titanic fans out there, don't get carried away with your ratings. A+ A+ A+ A+ A+ loses it's value. Overall Titanic is an artistic and likable movie.

An amazing film! - Titanic Reviews
Titanic is an amazing, amazing film! It has all about everything you want packed into a film! A great film for all ages! Titanic is a marked a classic in my book!
Is it over yet?? - Titanic Reviews
Sweetheart, I can't believe you made me come to this movie. Halfway I slipped into a coma and haven't awoken. It seems like it's been years, I must have missed the 2000 New Year, and I've still got the HORRIBLE Celion Dion song in my head!! My gosh, I'm waking up! My eyes are focusing and- Oh GOD, THEY JUST HIT THE FREAKIN' ICEBERG!! Well, back into the coma I go. It's better in here.....
Overall, touching love story (and you gotta love Billy Zane), wonderful special effects, but how long could it be and GOD DO I HATE LEONARDO DICAPRIO!! I cheared when his frozen, stiff corpse began to sink into the abyss.
Ya.. - Titanic Reviews
i know i gave it a's and b's across the board, but i have to say this- i truly, truly, truly hate this movie. along with pearl harbor. why does hollywood find it necessary to commercialize the past to make them into movies? i mean, look at saving private ryan.. you don't see any death defying love triangle do you? it's almost sad.

I love this movie so much! - Titanic Reviews
I love this movie so much. It is most definatly on my top ten list. It was so sweet and sad. I craied when Jack died. I really like how this story was based on history. I love movies like that. I also like how most of the movie was in a flashback of the old lady's mind. For my, it provided more understanding of the pain that she went through and it also made the movie more interesting. I thought that the visuals were amazing. The scene where the boat actually sank was exremly well done. I also loved that acting. Leonardo DiCaprio did a really good job. He always does a great job in his acting.
Most over rated movie ever - Titanic Reviews
Pathetic. Yes, the visuals are pretty good with the boat sinking, but the storyline sucks. Leanardo Di Caprio is a pathetic excuse for a character and you feel really sorry for Kate Winslett's fiance who is a decent chap she doesn't give a chance to. And Kate Winslett's character - equally pathetic.
A stupid film.
Titanic was called the ship of dreams - Titanic Reviews

Lord of the movies - Titanic Reviews
Ok, again another tragedy"-,that's what I thought when I was heading to watch it. But then, tears, tears and more tears at my pretty 10 years. With pride I say Titanic is an all life classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most overrated movie of all time. - Titanic Reviews
How this movie made the most money of time is beyond me. This and an average movie at best. The visuals were incredible but the rest of the movie was poor. Kate Winslet might be one of the worst actresses of all time. I can't beleive she was nominated for an Oscar. Leonardo Dicaprio is a decent actor and did a good job. If anyone was to get a nomination it should of been him, not Kate Winslet. The sad thing is that no movie will ever make the money this movie did until movie tickets go up to $15. If this movie was so great then why wasn't it in AFI's top 100 movies? Don't get me wrong the movie has its place and is somewhat entertaining but to be the highest grossing film of all time is a disgrace. This isn't even one of James Cameron's better movies. Ill take the Terminater and Aliens over it any day of the week.
One of the best, all time - Titanic Reviews
It's a shame how some people hate this movie just because Leo plays in it or because he dies in the end. People ought to grow up and appreciate an epic movie like this one.

Worst movie ever made - Titanic Reviews
So Boring i couldnt even watch it
Oh please save me from the iceberg
oh shut up
This movie sucked
Dont see it if you don't have to
TRUST ME
A great movie - Titanic Reviews
I watched Titanic tonight for the first time in maybe two years. It still works on every level. The acting, directing, and action are all great, but there is something I noticed with the plot, which is great as well. This may seem like old news to some people, but I just realized it in watching this movie. The 2001 movie Pearl Harbor copies everything from this movie, everything, the only difference being is that one movie takes place in Hawaii. Even though Pearl Harbor copies everything from this movie, I still liked it, but this one is much better. I don't care, like most of you what the critics say except for Ebert and Roeper (they are actually good), but James Cameron is a master when it comes to directing. There are some movies that I bet he would like to forget, but there are three that stand out at me the most. The Abyss(with the added footage), True Lies, and this movie, all of which are 4 stars in my book. He, and maybe Steven Spielberg, could direct a movie like Titanic. They know how to handle all of the elements, in which themselves have created. As in a director like Michael Bay, he is not quite there yet, which made a movie like Pearl Harbor lack a little bit, but within maybe a decade, he could direct a movie like this. This movie is an epic in every sense, and is really a great movie. If you haven't seen this movie in a while, or if in fact you haven't seen it since 1997-1998, I would suggest watching it again. It is a really good movie.
It should have won a 100 awards. - Titanic Reviews
Titanic i like it when i was littile, and now I love it more. Don't listen to the people that said it was bad it was the best movie of all time. Rent it or buy it you will like it alot I'm not lying.
Put it simply.during the premier,i cried no sobbed - Titanic Reviews
I don't see the point of writting a review of an old movie. But there you go. I cried okay!? I cried like a man who got his car keyed!
Great! a lifetime of memories - Titanic Reviews
this movie is the greatest movie ever to be made. the story made sense a lot. the acting was perfect as Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet)lit up th screen as young lovers and their fight for survival on Titanic. it really made me feel their passion for each other. If you havn't seen it yet then why waste your time go and rent it!

It was spellbounding - Titanic Reviews
Although i have seen this movie and read about Titanic and it's disaster in India. I was very moved and parallized when I saw this movie. Acting from the lead stars was marvelous, production design, costume design, music was the best. Acting from rest of the stars was great. Direction was just unbeliveable.
Spectacular! - Titanic Reviews
This film really brings out the history of titanic. The visuals were the best ive ever seen in any movie. The story follows really well with whats happening and everything stays in place and it all pulls together!
Agreement - Titanic Reviews
I read a review about this movie on this site saying this movie and Pearl Harbor were horrible movies and I am in complete agreement. The reason is because of the sappy, run of the mill, cheesy love story they try to make less trite by coupling it with a historical event. I also agree with the fact that movies like Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line are better historical fiction movies because they dont have a love story attached. In 20 years you will see "9/11" the LOVE story of 2 LOVERS who are passionately in LOVE but there LOVE is cut short when one of them dies in the bombing of the twin towers. It will happen and I will, no doubt, hate that movie too. Unless of course it has an original story. -Jeff
Titanic - Titanic Reviews
Yes, a very good romantic movie, but, I just can not see James Cameron directing a romanic story. James Cameron is a director of action films like Terminator and Aliens. He did an average job on directing. The story was powerfully moving and it's just a powerful movie. Acting was great as well Kate and Leo actually make a good couple. The visuals are incredibly fantastic. Almost perfect. I'd just wished that James wouldn't direct it. 4.5 out of 5.
A good and emotional movie - Titanic Reviews
Even though is a "mushy" and "predictable" love story i enjoyed it. Jack is the embodiment of what every wants to find in a man and Rose is a perfect charcter to relate to. Rose rebells against her selfish and arrogant mother, refusing to marry for money and follows her hearts desire. Jack is an open book, a free and caring spirit that lights up this s life and sets her firey spirit free. I thought the second half of the movie had wonderful speical effects and potrayed real human emoition as the ship sank and families were seperated, immigrants dreams of starting a new life were forever swept away and 1500 people died because of arrogance. This movie is more for the female audience, because of the love story and because they can appreciate what Jack and Rose went through to be together and because of all the emotion and drama surrounding (not just in Jack and Rose). James Cameron did a good job in directing and in including historical facts, while still including his touching story. I also thought the actors did a good job in portraying their charcter.
There are reasons... - Titanic Reviews
This is one of those movies that people either loved or they hated. Call me biased but, you ever notice how all the bad reviews are written by people who look like they've never spent a day in school?! Personally, I loved this movie! Sure, the storyline (the romance, mainly) could have been less cliched, but the acting fits perfectly with the time. Infact, Rose is even a little too fiesty for the era at times, but James Cameron did a remarkable job! The set was brilliant, nothing short of a masterpiece. I almost cried when I heard they'd torn it down post-production ...what a waste!! Cameron's attention to detail was amazing and he missed nothing. The supporting cast also helped keep the story afloat, and having researched, extensively, the real Titanic and her passengers, I must say that Kathy Bates was THE best pick for Molly Brown! I think the picture more than accurately portrayed the pain and fear that the ill-fated passengers felt. The romance/storyline between Jack and Rose was of course necessary to give the viewer a window into someones life aboard, rather than just random characters, otherwise it would have been a documentary! This movie has been the highest grossing film world-wide of all time, It received 11 academy awards out of 14 nominations and has become one of the biggest cult movies of all time... A piece of fluff woulden't merit those bold honours, now would it? I doubt there are many people that haven't seen this, but if you haven't, see it. Its a classic. The kind of movie your grandchildren will see and know about.
